Cemtech Dubai 16-19 February 2008
Cemtech Conferences and Exhibitions has successfully concluded its third Middle
East event – returning to Dubai in the heart of the United Arab Emirates.
Held at the luxurious Grand Hyatt Hotel, the meeting attracted an impressive 300
delegates from 49 countries, all keen to gain insights into recent Middle East
cement market developments.
Conference proceedings featured a variety of market-based reports including a
look at what lies ahead for the Middle East cement sector in a changing world,
the outlook for UAE cement and construction markets, plus overviews of expansion
projects in the buoyant markets of Saudi Arabia and Iran.
The investment horizon for the Indian cement market was given due attention, as
were the challenges and opportunities for cement producers in Ethiopia.
Plant reports came in the form of an overview of the new 4000tpd line for Beni
Suef in Egypt, as well as a look at Sudanese markets with a special focus on the
new Alsalam cement facility.
To ensure all interests were catered for, a number of more
technically-orientated presentations were given aimed at improving plant
performance. A number of the technological advances detailed were supported by
case studies including installations at Sharjah Cement, UAE and Kuwait
Portland’s Shuwaikh import terminal.
A 34 stand exhibition area enabled some of the industry’s leading suppliers to
showcase new advances, and provided delegates with an additional platform to
create new alliances and build effective commercial relationships.
Attending spouses and partners were given the opportunity to tour some of
Dubai’s major sights and experience some of the many shopping delights the city
has to offer.
Delegates were also treated to evening receptions filled with live music and
entertainments. And proceedings were signed off in true style with a Farewell
dinner held under the stars in the picturesque gardens of the Grand Hyatt Hotel.
With the conference proceedings concluded, a number of delegates visited the
Fujairah Cement works where a new 7500tpd line is currently under construction.
Meanwhile, others took the opportunity to participate in the Cemtech Golf
tournament held at the prestigious Dubai Creek Golf Course.
